day 8 [Jan. 2nd, 2009|03:24 pm]
[mood | calm]

Ok, so I totally forgot about this.  But hey, it was New Year's Eve, gimme a break.  New Year's Eve was obviously happy.  Drinking and hanging out with friends and kissing my husband and midnight.  Good times.  My, how optimistic things seem when you're on vacation.  I'm sure this 8 days thing would have been much more dismal if I hadn't been on vacation the entire time.  =}

day 7 [Dec. 30th, 2008|11:42 pm]
[mood | satisfied]

Hanging out with a couple of friends we don't get alone time much with because of their new baby was fun.  We got to drink a bunch and played Scattergories and Cranium.  Simple things make me happy these days.  Getting to hang out with friends, having free time to relax and just have a good time.  I think I need to move to Europe where they get much more time off.  I wasn't built for this kind of work ethic.  =}

day 6 [Dec. 29th, 2008|11:54 pm]
[mood | groggy]

Happiness was getting to sleep in on a Monday and lie around in my pajamas until 2 or so reading and watching TV.  And also, for some strange reason, my cat Puck (the one who normally ignores me), wanted to lie next to me and cuddle for a good portion of the day today.  We gave him a bath, which he hates, but maybe it was all the brushing down and toweling off that he liked.  Weird, but nice.

day 5 [Dec. 28th, 2008|11:58 pm]
[mood | relaxed]

Today I finished a trilogy of young adult horror books by Caroline B. Cooney I used to LOVE as a kid.  I flew through the three of them in the last couple days.  I love re-reading my old kids books, and it's awesome I have some down time to read without feeling like my brains are leaking out my ears.

day 4 [Dec. 27th, 2008|11:09 pm]
[mood | content]

Exploring the bed of a reservoir that's been under water for some 50+ years today was pretty cool.  Apparently before the Silicon Valley got huge, there was a town called Lexington just south of Los Gatos, which was the halfway stop for stagecoaches running between San Jose and Santa Cruz  When the valley got so crowded that water became a problem, they made all the residents of Lexington move out and flooded the town.  That's where the Lexington reservoir sits today.  Once every so often they have to drain the reservoir to make repairs, which has happened about twice since they initially flooded it back in the early 1950s.  So Matt and I decided to take the opportunity to go exploring the bottom of what is normally a large lake.  We saw old roads, the old Alma bridge and the foundations of buildings that have been under the water for half a century.  And let me tell you, it's sure not easy walking along the bottom of a drained lake.  At one point, when my foot sank into the muck past my ankle, I had fleeting thoughts of Matt and I desperately trying to recall all the survival tricks we learned on Survivorman and Man vs. Wild.  Matt lost his shoe completely at one point.  I'm not sure we'll ever get our sneakers clean, but you know, it sure was a good time.  Will post the pictures to my Flickr (www.flickr.com/jenniferaileen) soon.

days 2 and 3 [Dec. 26th, 2008|12:06 am]
[mood | stuffed and ready for bed]

Since it's just about midnight, I'll kill two birds with one stone.

Day 2 (Christmas): Even though I barely talk to any of my blood relatives, I am super thankful for all of my family and friends who make me feel like one of their own.   My estranged stepfather's family has always treated me as much a part of the family as the rest of them, and Matt's family has welcomed me with open arms.  It's good to have people that care about you.

Day 3 (the 26th): I am so glad to have a husband that gives me what I need.  He is nice to me when I am crabby, he rubs my head and shoulders when I have a hard day, and he always tries to do what he thinks is best for me, even if I'm being whiny and ungrateful.  He makes me dinner and cleans up when I have those days I battle depression, and always give me hugs and kisses even if I just hollowly stare at the TV all night.  I need to work harder on showing him the kindness and affection he shows me.

Thanks, April. =P [Dec. 24th, 2008|09:42 pm]
[mood | lethargic]

So apparently I was tagged by [info]bubblesnap  for this thing a few days ago, but I've been so busy with Christmas stuff I didn't even see it until now.  So, I'm supposed  to post one thing that made me happy every day for 8 days and tag 8 people.  I haven't been very optimistic overall for the last year or two, so this might be a stretch, but I'll try.  I also never hardly post, but I'll give that a try too.

So, for day one, I am super duper thankful I don't have to go back to work until the 5th.  Hooray for vacation!

And now for the tagging.  I feel like I barely know anyone on my friends list, and the ones I do were already tagged on this thing by someone else.  So, I tag the following, but really, I don't care all that much if you do it.  Merry Christmas!

If you can't eat a cheeseburger, now you can drink one!

Ground Beef + aged Cheddar

As Samuel L. Jackson once said, “Now that’s a tasty burger!” How do you like yours? ‘Cause when it’s cooked right, there’s nothing like a juicy burger with a thick slice of Vermont cheddar on top. You can even taste the ketchup!

Store it cool, but drink it warm!

I still think I rock! I could have obviously doctored the HTML to give me a better score, but I didn't. It's a matter of pride. But [info]comstud, who I stole this from, obviously rules the earth with a superior wpm of 109.

Interesting to note that depending on which tests I take, I am either an INFJ or INTJ. I'm actually probably somewhere in the middle, striking a balance between thinking and feeling on an equal basis and depending on the situation. Logical and emotional? Yeah, that's me. I'm a dichotomy, with my logical mind constantly battling my flighty heart. It can be trying.

Bay Area Folks- Want to make an easy $50? [Jun. 7th, 2007|10:24 am]

As some of you guys know, Matt and I have been going to focus groups to earn some extra cash.  Recently we participated in one for Wee World (www.weeworld.com), and they want us and some of our friends back.  Apparently their site isn't interesting the group they are targeting (they want 20-somethings, and they are getting teens).  So if any of you 20-somethings in the Bay Area want to make an easy $50 cash, reply to me and you can come participate in this focus group with us.  Here is the info:

Thursday June 14, from 7pm to 8pm, in Menlo Park.  They have free cookies and coffee and are a lot of fun.  And hey, $50 CASH for just an hour of feedback.  Pretty sweet!

Honestly, I think these things are full of shit.  They give you like 10 celebrities for which you may have a similar feature or two in common. I mean, Anna Nicole Smith?!  *snort*  I did this with 2 different pics just to prove that these folks are tards--none of the people they compared me to even crossed over in these two comparisons.  I think it has more do to with the tilt of your head and your smile than your actual features.  Nice technology.  It's still funny, though.

Kurashido! [Jul. 14th, 2006|12:58 pm]
[mood | hopeful]

So my cat peed all over my sofa a couple weeks ago, and despite my best efforts, the thing still reeks of cat piss.  I am going to have to get another couch I think, which sucks cause I am totally broke with wedding junk.  On the bright side, I just found this place online: http://www.kurashido.com/.  It's in Sunnyvale and has the cheapest prices on used furniture that I have ever seen in my life.  Just thought some of you poor bay area folks might be interested.  I don't claim it will actually be any good when you get there since I haven't yet visited it myself, however I plan on making a trip post haste.  Will let you all know if it sucks or not.

OMG, I love Kidrobot!!! [Jul. 1st, 2006|09:23 am]
[mood | way too excited]

Yesterday afternoon, which I blessedly had off because of my super-kind company president, I made what is possibly one of my grandest discoveries of all time: Kidrobot.  Matthew and I were strolling along the street of San Jose's Japan Town (which is really only Japan Two Blocks of One Street), munching on Japanese goodies, when we decided to drop into a little shop full of comic-book-looking toys and such.  Browsing through old Transformers and large-breasted kitty-ear-wearing Anime figures, I saw a gaggle of what I found to be called Smorkin' Labbits (below).
